Volunteer Code of Conduct

All volunteers are required to follow the code of conduct below.

If volunteers cannot follow the code of conduct, they will have their festival passes revoked.

Organizers want to make volunteering a positive experience. Any questions, concerns or suggestions should be directed to the Volunteer Coordinators

Wapiti Music Festival is an inclusive event that is committed to creating a safe environment for everyone, regardless of race, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, age or religion. This Code of Conduct is our commitment to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all.

As organizers we work hard to preserve the warm and open atmosphere that characterizes the Wapiti Music Festival. The Wapiti Music Festival Society (WMFS) is dedicated to providing a bully and harassment-free experience for everyone. Our Code of Conduct is a community pledge for all participants in the festival, whether you are an artist, festival attendee, volunteer, sponsor, vendor, or in any way taking part in our festival or organization. This code applies to all activities which take place on the festival premises (including interpersonal and electronic communications), or which are directly connected to festival events or organizing activities.

Although this list cannot be exhaustive, we explicitly honour diversity in age, gender, gender identity or expression, culture, ethnicity, language, national origin, political beliefs, profession, race, colour, immigration status, education level, size, family status, religion, sexual orientation, class, socioeconomic status, ability and all other categories listed in the BC Human Rights Code. Bullying, harassment, and discrimination of any form will not be tolerated, including the display of imagery and symbols that have been identified in the Hate Symbols database.

Unacceptable behaviour or harassment from any community member will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behaviour, the festival organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from the festival without warning and with no refund.

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns, please notify a festival organizer or volunteer as soon as possible. Please remember that notifying Wapiti Music Festival does not constitute or replace a notification to local law enforcement. If you feel you are in an emergency situation always first make sure you are safe and dial 911 immediately for emergency police, fire, or ambulance services.
